Generating revenue from my websites is something that has always intrigued me.
When I first began playing around with HTML and the internet back in the mid 90s, I started my site New Orleans Saints History, it was solely as an educational endeavor. I wanted to learn Web Design.
Unfortunately, within a few years, I came to the realization that I wasn’t a designer. That part of my brain is apparently dormant. But I still enjoy creating websites and loved working on my Saints History site. I minimized the graphical input and concentrated on content and within a few years, had a rather popular New Orleans Saints Fan site.
It was around 2005, shortly after I had settled on a domain name, that I began to be contacted by NFL Ticket vendors and asked to place ads on my site. Believe it or not, I had never really considered making money with my site. I had always thought that the only way I could make any income was through making sites. The concept that I had content on my site that could translate into monetary value had never occurred to me. But I liked it.
I started “Working” on my site. Adding content. Always adding content and trying to do as many link exchanges with other sites as I could. That’s all I knew to do. You see, I come from a very “Blue Collar” background. I’m an licensed Aircraft Mechanic. Not much along the lines of Internet Technology. I was going to have to educate myself.
So that’s the purpose of these posts. A summary of what I’ve done and what I’m doing. As the title suggests, my immeddiate goal is to be bringing in, consistently, $1 a day from my on-line efforts. The first 2-3 posts, I hope will bring you up to speed on what I’ve done up to this point and what I’ve learned about the Internet-generating-revenue scene. If there is something here that could help you get the ball rolling, great. I’m happy to help. If you have some input you feel could help me, so much the better. Please comment to your heart’s content (this is a do follow blog!).
